Huzzah!

Here's to a very successful opening weekend at GARF.

The weather was perfect-sunny, not too hot. (Can we order the weather to stay JUST LIKE THAT until June, please?) Abundant pollen in the air, but I remembered to take my allergy meds both days.

Lots of good (and generous!) crowds in the pub, including many old and dear friends, and many new friends! Won't list them all here for fear of forgetting someone. But it seems like much fun was had by all.

I will mention that it was FABULOUS to have [livejournal.com profile] ladychevalier dance, both during our sets, and during Pub Sing. I'd never seen her dance before (crazy, ain't it?), and she is just beautiful, and dances well too! ;) YAY for my fellow moon girl!

I will also say that I love my bandmates Rivka and [livejournal.com profile] yamguitar for being wonderful, talented, and all around fun to play music with.

There was more that I wanted to say, but my brain isn't working right now...

I HATE CRAMPS!
I do NOT enjoy being a girl right now.

*huge hugs* Being a girl really doth sucketh sometimes.

Thankee.

*hugs back*

I know EXACTLY what you mean right now...all except with the birth control it's not excatly cramps I get, but instead mood swings up beyond the wazoo

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Birth control (and not just for the obvious reason) was the best medical decision I ever made. Cramps are way bearable now, much more so than they used to be.

Now, they're just ANNOYING!

*pops more Aleve*

[identity profile] ladychevalier.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too! No more claw-the carpet-to-shreds-and-cry-and-scream cramps, just ow-y, achey ones- but ones that are bearable with medications :) I do PMS much more on birth control than I did, lots of mood swings... or maybe that's just the Cancer in me? :) (TMI Warning) I switched from the pill to the ring last August, and I love it, although it did take me a few months to adjust to minor changes that it caused. WELL worth it though!!!

Thank YOU so much for having me! Hee hee hee hee! I get giggly just thinking about this past weekend! **Humongous Hugs!!!**

We need to get our guys and drag them out dancing one night! And I definitely plan on taking a Monday off so I can stay for drum circle and La Fie.

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Dude...one more thing we have in common!!! (Sorry it has to be such a yukky, TMI-y, one!)

I can just imagine if we took our guys out dancing...you and I would be on the dance floor and they'd be smoking at the bar. ;) We should, though. I bet we'd have lots of fun.

And, yes, you have to stay for drum circle, so you can show us all how it's REALLY done. ;)

My ballet teacher once reccomended a cold Coca-Cola classic and an aspirin for cramps, and ya know? It's sort of scary how well it works. You might try it.

[identity profile] supergoober.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That is also my dad's headache remedy (passed down from my grandmother).

[identity profile] arseaboutface.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Behold, the power of Coke.

[identity profile] merryfaerie.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
cure headaches, polish metal, is there anything Coke CAN'T Do?

[identity profile] arseaboutface.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'faith, no. It could even cure world hunger if it tried.

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Very interesting...if they get bad again, I shall try it.

[identity profile] psychemarlies.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Cold Coke Classic and asprin (or any of my other meds) does help. My doctor told me the caffiene boosts the asprin's effects. And something to do with adrenaline/endorphins (the body's natural pain killers).

Now the world knows why I am a Coke addict. :D

UBI...

[identity profile] elliedee.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the combo of aspirin and caffeine. Somehow caffeine accelerates the anti-inflammatory properties of the pain killers. A couple of years ago Excedrin made a point of advertising that their formula contains aspirin (and acetominophen) and caffeine and how that's what makes it work so fast. Sadly it was right on the crest of the anti-caffeine wave and the campaign seemed to disappear very quickly.

mmmmm...chocolate bunny...

...I knew that easter candy would come in handy!

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh...I have a Cadbury Egg I've been hoarding...

mmmm....chocolate....

[identity profile] quietmoon.livejournal.com 2005-04-19 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I too hate cramps!! At least it waited till AFTER the weekend.

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
This is VERY true. And it should be mostly over by this coming weekend. Phew!

[identity profile] tempest-gypsy.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Sweet Lady, is EVERY rennie woman having cramps today!? *raises hand* I'm in.

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Goodness (or should I say Goddess)...that's frightening. Rogues of the world, LOOK OUT!

[identity profile] lasarigue.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
well, you know after some women are around each other for a long time, their cycles start synchronizing...would make sense...we should have an official "blame the lords and rogues day" at faire where we can blame all our woes on the menfolk

[identity profile] lady-rose30.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Just nobody follow me...I'm still on a three week cycle!?!

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh YUCK! I used to be like that...every 21 days instead of 28, and it SUCKS!

[identity profile] lady-rose30.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I only have a week or so between crampy/moody phases, and this only started up 5 or 6 months ago. I'm hoping it's mostly stress induced and when the life situation settles down, so will that...until then - wwaaahhhh!!

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-21 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine, unfortunately, was just how my body was, and was like that from the time I started (at 10 years old) until I finally went on birth control about 5 years ago.

Hopefully yours will go away when the stress does. It's yukky to only go 3 weeks!

[identity profile] anonymisty.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
No cramps, but a somewhat hellish headache is settling in on me right now...what'd we all do to deserve this?

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-20 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I think we must have all had too much fun at GARF this past weekend, and now our bodies are making us pay.

[identity profile] blackwidowcrf.livejournal.com 2005-04-21 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Although it was one of the worst experiences of my life, having a hysterectomy fairly young took me away from all that mess. However, still having my ovaries on the other hand - mood swings galore, so, I can still somewhat relate. You don't know what ovulation pain is until you've had your uterus removed! Okay, I've shared WAYYYY too much.

On a happy note, I had a fabulous time this weekend and enjoyed seeing everyone. I didn't enjoy falling on my ass because of all the loose rocks, so, ya'll be careful out there. I can't dance like [livejournal.com profile] ladychevalier, but, I'm dancing at drum jam next time for sure!

And, I have new shoes cause missy gypsy is a little devil! and that's ONE of the reasons I LOVE YOU!!!!!! Actually, I have TWO new pair of shoes! wheeeeeeeee I love shoes too!

[identity profile] gypsyariana.livejournal.com 2005-04-21 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad you were able to visit this past weekend. I am NOT glad that you fell on yoru ass, though. Stupid fairegrounds.

Dude, you totally should have gotten up to dance at drum circle. What was stopping you?

Hey, I have new shoes too, cause YOU'RE a devil too! HEe! And I'm wearing them today! :)
LOVE YOU!
