Another DCon come and gone

...and I still haven't caught up on my sleep!
OMG...a real update!
I'm working, so it'll probably be piecemeal.
Tempest is over! w00t! Ultimately, I think it was a good experience for me, but I'm glad it's done, and I don't have to make the looong drive to Peachtree City anymore, particularly now with the gas prices.
DragonCon was fun...I felt a bit out of the loop because Friday and Saturday I had work and the show and had to miss out on the Con goodness.
captnsparrow and our friend Michele (who came down from MN for the con and stayed with us) headed down a little later in the morning, because they had partied a bit the night before. Met up with the fabulous AoME people. *waves to the several new folks on her friends list* Wandered around the Dealer's Room, Exhibition Hall, and Art Show.
Saw some artwork from my friend Bob (http://www.sharayahpress.com/) who used to do GARF when I first started working there. I couldn't find it on the website, but he did a painting of me, Kelly Stewart, and Millie Hand...I can't find it on his website anywhere, but he had it on display at the Con. (Not for sale, though, and no prints of it yet. *sigh*) He's got some other gorgeous stuff on his site, though, including some familiar faces from GARF.
Ran into many folks I knew, from GARF mostly, including
arseaboutface and
kawaiikaylee who bought me a present...a bumper sticker that says "I <3 Captain Jack Sparrow." You guys rock! ;) Somewhere, someone has a photo of he and I where I'm holding the sticker. Actually, I think
miatuc took one of just me, holding the sticker. :)
Swung by the Hyatt, too, to say hi to the Emerald Rose folks...ran into Larry at the table, and Cayce (sp?) running sound for whoever was on stage at the moment. Larry told me that the folks pressing the new ER CD goofed and some of the discs were actually some sort of Salsa music! Eep!
Had much fun with TQA playing the Wheel of Time Winespring Inn party...thanks to all our friends who "crashed" the party to hear us play. I think the folks who'd never heard us before had a good time, as well.
Met up with Donna and David afterwards...the great people who got us into Trinoc Con (though they have since parted ways with the Con). It was good to see them, and hang out outside of the craziness of running around Con (we found a cute little cafe in the Hilton). Plus, it turns out Donna is a costumer (which I knew) and has done wedding dresses before (which I didn't know)....
Went up to the 10th floor of the Marriott, where the AoME people,
captnsparrow and
yamguitar were partying, and hung out there for a bit. (For Rohndor!!!!!)
Returned on Monday in normal clothes, to walk around a bit more, do some shopping, etc. Went to the panel on making wings with
quietmoon, in hopes of getting some good tips for making a Tinker Bell costume for next year. (We shall see...)
captnsparrow has a link to his/our photos on his LJ.
Went with
froofie,
karmakeys,
supergoober and Suzanne last night to see the preview of
yamguitar's show, "The Big Bang" at Horizon Theatre. http://www.horizontheatre.com/
You Atlanta locals....go! It's hysterical! And it's a really good showcase for the kind of stuff that the Yam does best...musical comedy silliness abounds! I will say (disclaimer!) that some of the jokes make fun of different racial and religious stereotypes...but they make fun of EVERYBODY (equal opportunity offenders, I guess). Just don't take it seriously.
Super special thanks and kudos go to
supergoober and
droid18 for all they're doing to help the Katrina victims. You guys rock!
Oh, and I have an audition at the Lyric tomorrow night...wish me luck! I hope my voice comes back (it was Con...I talked too loud and too much...oopsie!)
