It's long, and mainly so I can look back and remember everything about the week. I'm sure there are tons of typos, for which I apologize.

I would love for anyone who was there to post/reply with their favorite memories of the day-something I forgot to mention, something I missed...I want to be able to look at this entry a year, five years, ten years from now and remember all the little moments.

I guess my “wedding week” started on Wednesday. I had my last appointment at Glendalough Manor, to make any final payments, and bring all the decorations, favors, etc. that I was providing. Mom, Dad, and Shannon all came with me (poor Wade and Gene still had to work).

On the way, we decided to drive around a bit and check out area pizza places for the “afterparty” back at the hotel. We decided that since the reception ended so early, all our out-of-town guests wouldn’t have anything to do on Saturday evening, so why not keep celebrating! We rented the hotel’s meeting room, and planned to order pizza, bring the karaoke machine, and just get to hang out.

We also stopped by the hotel to check out the meeting room, and Dad and Shannon hadn’t seen the hotel rooms yet. Mom and I had when John K. took us on a tour of Peachtree City (by golf cart!) several months ago.

Stopped by Glendalough, dropped everything off, and that was it until Friday, the rehearsal dinner! Getting close now!

We had much fun confusing all the folks at the hotel and the pizza places: “This is my Mom, this is my Dad, and this is my Other Mom.” Also, we saw several Tavern McB posters hanging up at local Ptree City business, huzzah!

Thursday morning, time to get nails done! Grandma Carol and Grandpa Jon had arrived early early early Thursday morning from Vegas. Grandpa Jon snoozed while bride, moms, and grandma had our nails done. More confusion from the guy at the nail place, who Shannon has been going to for years, who thought I was HER daughter, and kept asking if Mom was mother-in-law. Finally managed to explain to him what everyone’s relationship was. We boggled a lot of minds this week!

As a guitar player, I do miss getting to have nice nails. I tried to let them grow out as much as possible, despite having a gig exactly one week before the wedding (thank you again, Captain Drew, for having the Palooza on 9/15!). I got a pretty French manicure, and I’m totally dreading having to mess it all up when I go back to playing my guitar tomorrow.

After that, lunch with the parents and Grandma and Grandpa at a cute little Mexican restaurant. Gorged myself on chips and cheese dip…not necessarily the best thing to do two days before the wedding!

I spent much of the afternoon working on a cute photo collage of Wade and I-baby pictures and cute couple pictures-to display at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. Thanks to Wade’s sis-in-law Meg for all the kid photos of Wade…all three Finch boys were so adorable!

Thursday night, some more family started trickling in, and we had dinner at Mom and Gene’s with all my parents (SO glad they all get along!), Uncle Bob, Uncle Ray, Aunt Yvonne, and Grandma and Grandpa. Gene and my Dad smoked pork tenderloin and grilled chicken, and everything was delicious. I wish my Tia (Aunt Patty) had made it in to join in the festivities, but she stopped in Chattanooga instead, to drive the last couple hours in the morning. It’s a long drive from Cleveland, OH, especially when you’re doing it yourself!

It was really nice, though, to get to spend a little time with family without it being super-crazy. It’s always great to get to see everyone at a wedding, but it’s such a whirlwind of activity, it’s hard to get more than a few short moments with all the folks that are there.

Friday morning, pack everything up and head to the hotel! Loaded all the goodie bags, clothes, dress, tiara, etc. in the car, and caravanned with the parents, Tia (who’d made it in safe and sound), and Grandma and Grandpa Athey down to the Holiday Inn Peachtree City. BTW, if you ever have need, I highly recommend them…everyone there from the front desk to the cleaning staff to the sales folks were SO nice and accommodating.

Got to see some of the family as they were coming in. Aunt Gae, Uncle Ray, Dee, and little Eli made it in safe, and I was so thrilled to meet my new little cousin. He’s such a doll! Grandpa Ron and Grandma Sharlene also arrived safe and sound. Sadly, my other cousin Matt and his fiancée Nicole were unable to make it, as some jackass broke into their apartment Friday afternoon. Initially, we thought the silver that belonged to my Mimere and their wedding bands were stolen; thankfully, later all that was found. However, they did get the laptop and their digital cameras, so it still sucks.

Had a late lunch with Mom, Tia, and Penny, and then headed back to Glendalough to get ready for the rehearsal! (BTW, does anyone know if Miss Lila’s Tearoom in Fairburn has closed? We tried to find it for lunch, but couldn’t! Ended up at San Francisco Bread Company instead, which was very yummy.)

Back to the hotel to change for the rehearsal and dinner. I wore a cute little black dress with grey and white polka dots on it, and the most gorgeous jewelry that belonged to Wade’s mom. It was a little too much to go with my wedding dress, but it was perfect with this! A few in the wedding party were late because of bad Friday afternoon Atlanta traffic (surprise, surprise).

But the rehearsal went off without a hitch (despite my minister Downtown Tony Brown threatening to hit my groom-jokingly of course-on several occasions) and then we got to enjoy some great food! Among the many things for which I could praise Glendalough, one of them is their fantastic food. The rehearsal dinner was an Italian feast, with a great salad, pasta, garlic bread, eggplant parmesan, and lasagna with tiramisu and cheesecake for dessert! YUM!

Back at the hotel, I had all the bridesmaids over in my room for some girl time. I do miss getting to hang out with the girls on a regular basis, so this was really nice! Besides, the afternoon bridesmaids’ luncheon/tea that I had wanted to do never happened because everyone was coming in at different times and the rehearsal was scheduled for so early in the day.

Everyone turned in fairly early, as it was definitely going to be an early Saturday morning. Penny stayed with me, and it’s a wonder that we got any sleep at all! Hobbit sisters never run out of things to talk about! And we were both so excited and giggly. I may have dozed a little bit, but I was certainly too excited and my brain too full of “I hope I didn’t forget…” to sleep very well.

Saturday morning, 7:30 AM, the alarm went off. Erica, who braids hair at GARF, was coming early to do my hair. Quickly showered and dressed, and Erica arrived at 8 on the dot! She did my hair in a gorgeous braided crown, with several strands hanging down, and my sparkly tiara to crown the whole ‘do. Definitely pretty, pretty princess hair. Jamie and Deb left to pick us all up breakfast at Chick-fil-A, while Penny did her own hair, and Elizabeth stopped by to get her hair done before we left for the Manor.

9:30, arrive at Glendalough. The bride’s room is gorgeous: spacious, with several vanities and full-length mirrors, a bay window with cushioned bench seating, a couple comfy chairs and a sofa, and a big screen TV! They’d also provided some drinks (water and sodas), and a cheese and grape tray. How nice! They even brought us champagne for a pre-wedding toast! I only had a sip.

Took both my mothers to lace me into my dress. Traci did gorgeous work, and Bettina did the necessary fixes once it arrived in Atlanta, including building me a corset so I had no weird lumps and bumps! Once I put it on, with my hair done and my tiara of pearls and white roses, I definitely felt like a Princess.

None of my biological grandparents could be there. Three have passed on, and Grammy (Mom’s mom) was too weak to make the trip. I had the small pocket knife from Pipere and the melted bullet from Papa John’s funeral on chains around my wrist. Had Mim’s handkerchief (borrowed from Dee and scented with her perfume) and Grammy’s rosary wrapped around my bouquet. Had Aunt Mary’s hanky tucked in my bodice. They were all smiling down on me, as was Aunt Diana. My bouquet was also yellow roses for Mim and red for Grammy, mixed with blue hydrangeas.

The groom arrived early (thank goodness! Better that than late!), and they sequestered him in one of the ballrooms so the girls could all go take photos. Chip Talbert of Fable Photography (the one who takes such GREAT photos at GARF) was our photographer, and he loved the setting and the whole theme. He joked, “I’m never doing a wedding of a non-performer again…you guys make my job easy!” Took some gorgeous photos all around the site-fountain, gardens, pergola…just me and me with my bridesmaids. Hid away again so the guys could have their photographic moment. I kept peeking through the blinds, though. Hey, there’s not a rule where the bride can’t see the groom ahead of time! She just has to be sneaky about it so he doesn’t see her. The guys all looked so handsome in their Musketeer garb!

All too soon, it was just me and the girls, and then they got called to “places.” I had a few moments alone, and then my Dads came to join me. We went and waited in the ballroom for the carriage. I got to peek through the window again, and see folks walking in. Watched my Mom’s get seated. Watched Mom as she found the Fleur-de-lis toilet paper on her chair. (What? Everyone knew she’d need a whole roll of TP for as much as she’d cry! Our friend Janet managed to find it…I don’t know how.) Saw the laugh.

The carriage arrived! It was beautiful, white carriage pulled by a gorgeous white horse. I started to tear up. Into the carriage with my Dad’s and away we go! I couldn’t hear it, but apparently there was quite a gasp as we pulled up to the top of the path in the carriage. “You sure do know how to make an entrance!” Dolph and Rivka (of course!) provided the ceremony music, which I’m sure was beautiful, though I only got to hear Pachelbel’s Canon in D and Planxty Penny Chaney (the recessional, also “something borrowed”). Jeff McK did the “glen speech” from the Fantasticks, and there was not a dry eye in the house, including his and mine. It was perfect.

Dad’s gave me away (together!). Tony’s ceremony was beautiful, with several very poignant remarks about marriage being something you have to decide every day, and my favorite quote; “Real love is not total absorption in each other; it is looking outward in the same direction, together.” Maria and Monica also read a short passage from I Corinthians 13 (“Love is patient…”). I was glad to have my sisters involved. Said our vows, as a hummingbird flew behind us. A few drops of rain fell, but only a few. Tony called on the parents as well to help and support as we make our new home. “You have cried – especially Jaynie – laughed, consoled and been consoled, desired for, and realized many wishes come true from within your parental relationship.”

Exchanged rings (“A ring!”), were pronounced “man and wife,” kissed, and the Musketeer and his Lady paraded out to the cheers of the crowd. We were both glowing. My Mom remarked that she’d seen brides glow like this, but never a groom!

Most of the guests went up to the Manor House for hors d’ouevres, while the bridal party and family stayed outside for pictures. It was slightly overcast, which was a good thing, both for lack of shadows on our faces for photos, and lack of me squinting into the sun. Finished the bridal party photos, and it was time for us to all be announced…to “Rio” by Duran Duran. Yes, I am a total dork. Walked in under a sword arch! Have I mentioned how much I love Musketeers? Immediately went into our first dance, which was to Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes.” Why, yes, we are hopeless romantics, why do you ask?

Time to eat! We had set it up where we were at a sweetheart table, so we actually did get some time to ourselves on this crazy day. The food was buffet style, but the Glendalough folks actually prepared our plates for us! As folks were getting food, Wade and I walked around and talked to guests for a while…until Dee finally came up to me and said, “Your groom is waiting for you so he can eat!” The food was delicious…a Caesar salad, artichoke pasta salad, teriyaki chicken, pork, and vegetables. Everything was fabulous!

Time to cut the cake! Our wedding cake was triple-tiered: the bottom tier was double chocolate kahlua, the middle was golden vanilla, and the top tier (our anniversary tier) is a layer of both, with chocolate mousse in the middle. The topper was a pewter Arthur and Guinevere, and we cut the cake with a dagger. The groom’s cake was a pirate ship-rum flavored, and bedecked with a tiny Captain Jack and Tinker bell. I got to taste all three flavors, and they were all delicious!

Time for dancing! Father/daughter dance was to Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole’s version of “Unforgettable.” (And we sang to each other on the dance floor.) Other Dad/daughter and groom/mother-in-law dance was to Eva Cassidy’s “Over the Rainbow.” Everyone else piled on the floor in the middle of the song, and the party began!

Everyone looked so nice all dressed up! I loved that we had some folks in costume and some folks in “Sunday best.” I really loved Lindsay and her pretty, pretty sari! BTW, you haven’t lived until you’ve seen Lindsay in her pretty, pretty sari dancing to “Thriller” and pretending to be a zombie! I’m glad that there were lots of people on the dance floor, pretty much the whole time! Pirate Tommy swung me around the floor…I knew he could dance, but WOW! I told him he had to dance with me again when I wasn’t tripping all over my dress and taking people out with my belt. Molly eventually rigged a couple wristbands so I could pull up my train when I was dancing. Yay for safety pins and extra ribbon!

Got to dance with a bunch of people, including Jeff McK, Robert, Jess, Tommy O’Mallie, and Chaz. I was sad when many of my Tavern friends had to leave early to get to shows (especially Jeanette, who HATES to leave a dance party!). I giggled when Elizabeth caught the bouquet, and Chaz snatched the garter out from Mark T’s grasp.

All too soon, it seemed, it was time to make our getaway. Pass out the bubbles! Ran for the car, but got stopped in the parking lot. Surprise, surprise. Not like we weren’t going to see most of these folks back at the hotel anyway. Mercie and Rowland finally made it as we were pulling away!

How many people do you know who have an after-party for their wedding? I did! My folks decided that since the wedding reception ended so early, and so many of our out of town (and some in-town!) guests were staying at the hotel, we’d just continue the party there!

I stayed in my dress long enough for Mercie to see it, and long enough to visit my niece and nephews who were a little too young to attend a wedding complete with a bunch of swordsmen. Apparently, my littlest niece called me “Cinderella” after we left. She’s a bit shy, though. Time to get out of that corset! Penny had double knotted me in, so I had to be cut out of it! But I had a cute little party dress and some GREAT new burgundy, patent-leather t-strap Mary Janes to wear.

We rented the meeting room at the hotel, ordered a bunch of pizzas, and brought my karaoke machine. What other kind of after-party did you expect from me? There were also a dining area outside the meeting room, and the pool area, open for our use. We socialized, and sang (my Dad and my Uncle Ray even sang together, which made me VERY happy!), and generally had a good time. I was exhausted, though, and I think everyone else was, too, because the party broke up fairly close to midnight.

I will keep the wedding night details to myself. ;)

Sunday-woke up and packed up. Said goodbyes to most everyone, except the OH and CT contingent that had gotten on the road way too early in the morning. Packed up, loaded up the car, and checked out. Sleepily headed for home. Wade even carried me over the threshold! How cute! Spent some of the afternoon opening presents, and then went over to Wade’s brother Mike’s house for a bit, to give Wade’s nephew his birthday present and see the family.

Came home and crashed out. It was wonderful...a perfect fairy tale from beginning to end.

And may I add that those Mary Janes are hot and make me wish my feet were small enough to borrow them?

I am very sad that I missed the after party; by all accounts, it was a fabulous time! I was so tired already, though, that once I'd drunk wine and eaten cake and danced at the reception, I was done for. I fell asleep in the car on the way home and slept the whole rest of the day.

You should post a picture of your after party dress; I want to see what you wore!

We were so sorry we missed the wedding and the reception. The pictures have all been so lovely, can't wait for Jayne and Gene to come up here with the video.
We are so glad we came on down to spend the after party with you and Wade.
You were absolutely beautiful in your gown, just a little Princess!
(Thanks for staying all dressed up for me! *GRIN*) And your dashing hubby looked quite Hansom I must say. We had a blast at the after party! But who wouldn't have a great time with you and your friends! **HUGS** and Love

More pictures need to be posted!!!!!!!!

(I'm having a hard time forming a proper comment besides "Congratulations" again, which would be lame, so I'll just be a twit and demand pictures so I can pretend I was able to see you two wed in person.)

If you haven't yet, check a couple entries down in my journal.

Those are the only online ones. I've posted a few other ones in my myspace as well. I'm still waiting on the "official" ones. Hopefully they'll be ready when we get back. We leave in the morning for Tybee Pirate Festival and Disney World! :)

I'm very sad that you missed the after-party, too. But I can understand being tired...I was exhausted and almost went and napped myself! ;)

I will see if I can find a photo of my after party dress. There must be one...SOMEWHERE ;)
