Dancing Queen
May. 13th, 2004 02:20 pmYeah, Yeah, I know I haven't updated in a while.
Been busy with "Forum" stuff. We had an all day rehearsal on Tuesday...well, okay, not all day, but I was called from 1 PM to 11 PM (with a dinner break from 4 to 6). So the morning was spent catching up on box office stuff (sold out tonight and tommorrow! woo hoo!) and the afternoon and evening spent rehearsing.
Heidi decided last Friday that my dance spent too much time up on the balcony and not enough time on the floor. So Jeff McK and I, at 1, worked out how to get me down the slide sooner (yay, I still get the slide!) and choreographed some new stuff on the floor. I just spent a little time tweaking the dance...had a problem last night getting my little cape off because my hair was all tangled in it. I think I've solved that problem now (thanks Zach!). And I ran it a few times just to get muscle memory to take over.
I'm ready to have "Forum" on it's feet, and so psyched about getting our first audience tonight. It was a very rushed, busy, packed full rehearsal process (and I still think we could have used another couple days!) but I think it'll be great. I really love this show. One of my favorite things, though (aside from the uber-talented cast and the uber-hysterical lead actors) is that the cast of courtesans are all real women. We're not all carbon-copy, tall, skinny, Broadway dancers. Sure, a couple of the girls are tall and slender (which is fine, I'm not knocking that at all), but others of us are petite, curvy...in other words, don't conform to that Hollywood/media definition of "beauty." And we're all (at least in my opinion) beautiful, sexy women.
The flurry of conversation (and the TV movie on Monday) of "A Wrinkle in Time" reminds me that I've never read the Madeline L'Engle books. And with my love of fantasy I'm sure they'd be right up my alley. I've never read the "Narnia" series either. I know...shame on me. Heck, I didn't even read LOTR until just a few years ago...before the movies came out, but not much! I'll add them all to my list of "books I need to read."
Hugs to
ladychevalier who probably won't see this entry until much later because she is in transit from Charlotte to here! Woo hoo!
Hugs also to
blackwidowcrf who won't be able to make it this weekend. We'll miss you, sweetie, and look forward to seeing you Memorial Day weekend!
supergoober, we will miss you tonight too. Hope all goes well at the opera! "Madama Butterfly" is one of my favorites, and the only opera I've ever actually been in. I was in the chorus in college...played one of the family members...I almost don't recognize myself in the photos in the "Asian" makeup and straight, black wig.
Smoochies to
captnsparrow who is trying to make me a new Renn Fest chemise, and is having a hell of a time. ♥ ♥ ♥
Don't have much else to say, and my tummy is telling me it's lunchtime....

Date: 2004-05-13 11:29 am (UTC)Break both legs, both arms, your nose, and everything else tonight; I so wish I could be there! I know it'll be a great show since I loved it so much last time. I'll look forward to seeing it on June 19th, if not before. Dance your ass off, courtesan girl!
