So Monday…headed back down around 11:30, because I really wanted to catch the Craig Parker (Haldir, LOTR) panel at 2:30. Headed down to the dealer’s room, where the Walk of Fame is, on the off chance….

Saw Ik the Troll, and ran over to say hello. Lo and behold, he was right by the table where the LOTR stars were stationed, and they were all there! There were only a few people in line for autographs, so I figured, what the heck!

First in line was Bruce Hopkins, Gamling, who immediately commented on both my Tinkerbell shirt and hair. “You have gorgeous hair, you could be a Rohirrim!” To which I replied, “I always wanted to be Eowyn, but figured I was more suited to be a hobbit.” He said, “At least you don’t want to be a bloody elf!!!” Got autographs and photos from Craig Parker and Sala Baker (Sauron) as well, and they were all so nice and charming and really having a good ol’ time, both talking to the fans and messing with each other.

Went upstairs to Champions to meet Wade and friends for lunch…Todd, saratree’s brother, was nice enough to give me one of his sheet protectors to put my signed photos in, and he and Michele headed down to the Walk of Fame to catch the LOTR guys themselves. Returned triumphant shortly thereafter…Michele had gotten a signed photo of Sauron that Craig Parker had decorated…Sauron with eyelashes, lipstick, earrings, and a cute little barrette in his hair. Hee!

We headed back down to the Walk after lunch, because Michele wanted to get photos with the guys. Bruce Hopkins had disappeared, but Craig and Sala were still there. Craig recognized captnsparrow (how surreal is that!?), who was incognito in his new Utilikilt.

Craig: “Hey, you were dressed up as Jack Sparrow, weren’t you? We saw you in the parade. Great costume!” (Or something along those lines)

Too cool! So Michele and the captn got their photos with the guys too. We were just having too much fun!

Too soon, they had to leave, but I was hanging around for Craig’s panel at 2:30. Found the Hong Kong room in the bowels of the hotel, and got in line, which was already fairly long. Saw [livejournal.com profile] melancholia and chatted with her for a little bit. The two girls in line behind me were much fun to chat with as well. We were a little worried that we either wouldn’t get into the panel, or would have to stand in the back of the room, but no worries…we were about halfway back, seated in chairs and everything.

Craig is so funny! He stood up on the table for the whole panel so folks could see him better. He had this little bouncy ball that lit up when you bounced it hard enough, and he fidgeted with it the entire time. He’s just so gregarious, and animated, and adorable! I really wish I had a video of the panel, so I could remember exactly what he said. He did break my heart, though, when he mentioned he didn’t like Shakespeare. If anyone has video of this panel, I’d love to have a copy!

I can’t remember everything, but some of my favorite moments (in no particular order):
Sala showing up towards the end of the panel with a headshot of Craig’s that he’d drawn all over. They gave it away to a fan in the front row afterwards.

Someone asked Craig who his favorite band was, and he answered “David Bowie!” Then, since he had the little bouncy ball, he immediately went into this impersonation of Jareth from Labyrinth, trying to juggle the ball (without much success, but it was very cute!).

Busting on Sala (before he showed up) by saying (paraphrasing here): “Sala just showed up one day, and he’s a bit crazy, so he only THINKS he was in the movie. We cleaned him up and bathed him and he’s a big guy so we just humor him: ‘Yes, Sala, you really were Sauron.’ “ Just too funny!

I can’t remember the exact question…I think it was about working with somebody, he said “Macbeth” and then proceeded to spin around on the tabletop with me and the girl sitting next to me both praying that he wouldn’t fall since he invoked the cursed Scottish Play. (Just to be safe, I yelled out “Angels and ministers of grace defend us!”)

There was some talk of pranks…a specific one mentioned was during the Rivendell scene where Frodo wakes up after being stabbed by the Morgul blade and is talking to Gandalf. When Gandalf asks Frodo how he’s doing, and Frodo replies “Much better now, Gandalf” or some such, three little hobbit heads poke out from under the covers. (Where’s the blooper reel with THAT on it, I ask you?)

Joking with the guy in the audience who said he was a director and trying to get said guy to hire him.

There’s more than that, but I can’t remember it all now. Ugh! Wish I had gone straight home and written it all down.

After that, I had a nice little chat with [livejournal.com profile] cuddlywombat and her man, while they were waiting for [livejournal.com profile] trunksishot14 and [livejournal.com profile] pyro_faerie. Looked around for my Tolkien buddy Ginger, who I never saw the whole weekend, and then called it a day. Con was about over anyway.

Looking forward to DragonCon 2005!

Enjoyed spending the rest of the day with Mom, Gene, Jeff, and Robert for a quick early dinner (sorry to eat and run!), and then heading over to [livejournal.com profile] karmakeys’s house for a cookout. She was kind enough to let me bring [livejournal.com profile] captnsparrow and Michele (who very much enjoyed hanging out!). [livejournal.com profile] supergoober, [livejournal.com profile] droid18 and his brother (who was a Hurricane Francis refugee), and [livejournal.com profile] kungfubadboy were all there, and we had quite an enjoyable evening just hanging out and chatting about anything and everything. Thanks for that, [livejournal.com profile] karmakeys!

But, man, what an exhausting weekend! Between opening Much Ado and performing and partying at Con...need sleep......

AWESOME!!!! I wish I could have been at D*Con!!!! I would have loved that panel, and it sounds like it was an absolute blast!!! *sigh* :) :) :)

I am also really glad that Much Ado opened so well!!!!! What a great feeling!!! I love it when, despite nerves, things actually turn out really well! (I'm hoping opening weekend atCRF goes as well- we still have one all new dance to learn, and 6 girls are learning a dance from last year for the first time too- opening weekend should be interesting ;)

I wish you could have been here too, but I know you had dance-y stuff to do. Hope that all went well!!! I'm sure opening weekend at CRF will be just fine. YOu still have plenty of time to learn those dances.

Besides, there's always next year's Con! :)

I really really hope you can get down here before the end of September and catch "Much Ado." And if you do, you, Chaz, Wade, and I should go for dinner or coffee or something. :)

Caitlin and I were planning on going to see Craig Parker, but then...well, I don't even know what we ended up doing then. I don't think we were even in the same place by that time! Wish we'd gone. Oh well. Overall, I think it was a good weekend.

Have pictures for you and can burn a cd with a bunch of you from Karma Lingo performances, RenFest and DC stuff. You can get my phone number from String and we'll coordinate something to get the CD to you. BTW, the pics with the capn and his 3 wenches turned out great!

Awesome! Can't wait to see the pics.
