Date Night
Oct. 2nd, 2004 08:04 pmBecause
crazyauntjaynie has been bugging me to post!
Our reservation was for 8 PM for Veni Vidi Vici in Midtown. I got home from work and got all dolled up in a dress of
captnsparrow's choosing...I gave him 3 choices, and the one he picked was a blue and dark purple flowered sundress, which I wore with my favorite pair of brown suede mary jane shoes. The captain decided he should coordinate with me, so he wore a nice blue button-down shirt with khaki's. ;) If I do say so myself, we made quite a handsome couple! Well, he looked handsome, and he told me I looked beautiful, so there ya go.
We had a $25 gift card from Mom's friend at work, and I remembered I had another card for the Buckhead Life restaurant group that someone must have given me for a gift a couple years back, so we were all set for payment! :) Like I said in my last entry, spending other people's money is fun!
We got to VVV around 7:40, but the place wasn't crowded, so they sat us right away. I'd forgotten that Amy's (Dari Mayfield) husband Dan works there as a Maitre'D...he spotted us and came over to our table to get our drink order immediately. I ordered a nice glass of Chardonnay, and he got (what else?) Rum & Coke. For dinner...he had ribeye and roasted po-ta-toes (boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew), and I had one of the specials: ravioli in what I think they said was veal sauce...it certainly wasn't a tomato sauce, but it was really yummy! We ate in a nice, leisurely manner, and chit-chatted about whatever came to mind, and just enjoyed each other's company. Apparently, we were such a cute couple that our waiter ordered us a free dessert! We had a plate with cheesecake topped with strawberries and whipped cream AND two of these chocolate hazlenut bars that were TO DIE FOR! We didn't quite use up both gift cards on dinner, so the remainder of the gift card, we left as a tip cause the waiter was so nice.
Random fact...this is the same restaurant where I celebrated my 21st birthday and had my first legal alcoholic beverage! :)
All in all, it wasn't a crazy, exciting, off the wall evening, but it was a really nice date night. I enjoyed getting all dolled up for my guy, going to a nice restaurant that we probably wouldn't have otherwise patronized, enjoying good food, good wine, and good conversation with my sweetie.

Sorry, I had an irrestible urge to say that.
But anyway, it sounds like you had a great time with good food and other people's money! :)
