What a great trip to CRF! Over too soon, but much fun nonetheless.
captnsparrow,
crazyauntjaynie, Gene and I drove up Saturday night after I got off work (thanks
froofie for letting me go a little early!), and were making GREAT time until... (dun dun dun), BIG accident right outside Gaffney, SC. They were rerouting ALL FOUR LANES off one exit, and detouring everyone past the accident and back onto the highway. Took an hour to go 4 miles. I still don't know what happened, but it must have been a BAD accident!
Got to the hotel, and
ladychevalier, Chaz,
blackwidowcrf,
keepmeguessing, Kim, and Marcus were the welcoming committee! It was great to see you all right off the bat. Saw
suicidal_smiley briefly, along with LB Andy, and then it was off to the bar to hear Russ play some blues. I'm so glad I finally got to hear him live...he's a FANTASTIC guitar player! 'Twas much fun, but the bar was REALLY smoky, so we couldn't stay too long.
Sunday dawned cool but glorious, and but for the fact that it was a bit dry and dusty, it was a perfect Festival day. Got to finally see
ladychevalier and
anonymisty dance (okay, I've seen Lady C dance before, but not with her troupe!), and it totally inspired me. I want to take a belly dance class now! (Ladies, do you or any of your dancer cohorts have contacts for a good teacher in Atlanta?) They were amazing (even with the cane drah-ma)! I was very impressed with how together the group is...how in sync with each other. And the poi (sp?) looks like so much fun to play with! Flame-free, of course. I'm gonna have to get my hands on some!
Saw
johnbroadfoot briefly, and a couple of the wenches who I know by sight but haven't yet actually MET! Finally ran into
beatrizwench late in the day, and had a fun and snarky conversation. Sweetie, you can be snarky with me ANYTIME! ;)
crazyauntjaynie came up with a plot that the Captn and I should sing for the Queen at the Musicale.
blackwidowcrf made sure it was okay with all parties in authority, so the Captn and I did "Gypsy Girl" and were joined on stage by Chaz to do "Barmaid's Tale." Plus, I presented Her Majesty with flowers from my absent TQA cohorts. I think it went well. I'm glad we did it. Oh, and I love
captnsparrow's new character-Captain Edmond de Ranged.
The Captn and I also got to sing "All Around My Hat" with
singed_cat. Too bad nobody caught that one. Ah, well...we had fun. :)
Got to have a nice dinner with a whole bunch of good friends-the only downside was that we were split into 2 different tables! It was nice, though, not to have to leave right after Faire on Sunday and rush back.
Stopped at the Gaffney outlets on the way back and caught nice sales at the Gap and Wilson's leather. I'm getting some NICE stuff for Christmas! ;)
Thanks and big hugs to EVERYONE who made the weekend so darn much fun!
