tinkpixie0621See, I always think that when a show is over and I'm not in one for a while, life is going to slow down.
Never happens.
Boy, what a wild ride this show was! Sadly, overall, the crowds were light, but very enthusiastic. I had a great time playing both the Mute and Luisa (one of my all time dream roles!). The cast was amazingly supportive of both Dena and I as we learned each other's roles and as Dena did her best to save her voice. What a harrowing time this must have been for her! A singer's worst nightmare. But, man, she was so helpful and positive the whole time-a consumate professional and a sweet girl.
And not to pat myself on the back too much, but I really think I stepped up to the plate and impressed a whole lot of people with how quickly I learned the part (a week and 1 cast run thru!) and how well I did in it. (pat pat pat) Despite the yucky circumstances under which I had to learn the role, I'm delighted I got to play it...a dream come true. I guess that musical theatre training really did pay off! (Finally!) I wish Reenie (my college voice teacher) could have seen it. I think she'd be proud.
And at least we went out with a bang: I played Luisa on Saturday, and Dena played her on Sunday, both to almost full, enthusiastic houses. Woot! That's how it should have been all along!
So big thanks to everyone who came out to see the show! It was great to see so many familiar and friendly faces in the audience-particularly that harrowing Wednesday and Thursday when I went on as Luisa for the first two times! Please keep sending good thoughts to Dena for a speedy recovery from her vocal polyp.

captnsparrow and I have taken on an enormous project-cleaning the house. Wow. Big task! But it looks much better now! :) Actually, he and my folks are there now, painting the dining room while I'm here at work, slacking off and typing in LJ. But we had to make it presentable for elvishtard and m_cublcle to come stay, and for all the AoME folks to come see. I won't be embarassed to have people over now. ;) And YAY POTC IN 5 DAYS! My pirate wench costume is all ready to go. I'll be exhausted on Friday, but who cares? ;)
I still have a to-do list about half a mile long, though.
Also? I am trying not to be disgruntled that I should be on vacation now (a year ago, the Tavern was closed!), but this July I will end up working harder than usual. Still not sure when I'm gonna get my vacation, but the few days I'm taking off this month are to go road-trippin with TQA. Fun, for sure, but still not vacation. I definitely understand the decision from a business/financial standpoint, and it seems to be working so far, looking at sales from this past week, but still. Blargh.
That's all I got for now. I feel like I'm forgetting to say something. I've composed this entry in my head, late at night, several times. It never comes out quite the same when I try to type it, but oh well.
